Ballymackey u12 girls got their season off to a winning start against Birdhill in Ballinree this morning. The side settled early and were rewarded with a 4th minute goal from Seonaid McGuigan. More good passing led to Seonaid's second goal on 12 minutes. Birdhill came back into it and there were some good battles in midfield with Mioda O'Shea, Aisling Kennedy and Jenna Hackett getting slightly the better of the exchanges. Good play from new club member Anna Paxman put Sadhb Connolly through on goal to slot calmly to the bottom corner after 22 minutes.
5 minutes into the 2nd half saw terrific work by Ella Frend as she hit the by line and squared it for Seonaid to tap in to complete an impressive hat trick. Birdhill never gave up and had some good passages of play but didnt really trouble Ava O'Rourke's goal. A fortunate own goal made it 5-0 after 12 mins of the second half and Sarah Young completed the scoring 5 minutes from the end with a well taken finish. Final score: Ballymackey 6 Birdhill 0.
