U13 Girls Major Match Report.
Ballymackey girls went down to a 2-0 defeat away in Moneygall this morning. In what was an entertaining game Ballymackey went behind after 6 minutes following a period of pressure from the home side. There's no doubting the Ballymackey goalkeeper was the busier of the two throughout the match but good defence and working back by the Ballymackey midfield meant the goalkeeping duties mainly involved goal kicks with Moneygall being restricted to speculative long range efforts. Moneygall lead by the minimum at the half time break and the close contest continued into the 2nd half. Mioda O'Shea raced through in the 20th minute and was cruelly denied an equaliser as her shot struck the inside of the upright and went agonisingly across the goal line without registering. Moneygall sealed the game with 4 mins left as the Ballymackey pressure was exploited on the counter. It's said a team learn more from a defeat than a victory and the squad received a one hour degree course against their Moneygall opponents who deserved their victory. Mental notes will have been taken and homework will be done in training on Tuesday evening. The squad today was: Jenna Hackett (captain), Ava O'Rourke, Aileen Moroney, Shauna Looby, Alannah O'Dwyer, Sadhb Connolly, Mioda O'Shea, Ella Frend, Sarah Young, Hazel O'Donovan and Grace Quinn.
