In breezy conditions our u13 Major girls side lost 3-1 against a very talented BT Harps side in Ballinee today. BT Harps took an early lead in the 4th minute pouncing on a short kick out. Ballymackey battled back and their nice passing was rewarded as the front two of Grace Quinn and Anna Lee combined well for Anna to equalise 7 minutes later. BT Harps largely dominated the rest of the half but were kept to just one more goal in the 15th minute in the first half thanks to some resolute Ballymackey defending.
Playing into a now even stiffer breeze in the 2nd half Ballymackey found themselves pinned into their own third for large parts of the 2nd half but BT Harps only managed one more goal. Terrific defensive work particularly by Jenna Hackett, Aileen Moroney and Shauna Looby frustrated the BT Harps attack with Ava O'Rourke in goal making some good saves also. So it finished 3-1 to the visitors who were very worthy winners but the Ballymackey side, who are ALL under 12 age group players, acquitted themselves admirably. The full squad today was: Ava O'Rourke, Jenna Hackett, Aileen Moroney, Shauna Looby, Ella Frend, Aisling Kennedy, Siùn Conway, Sarah Young, Sadhb Connolly, Anna Lee, Grace Quinn and 2nd half super sub fresh from playing with the u11s earlier that morning Mioda O'Shea.
