Ballymackey U14 girls were beaten 2-3 at home to Newport. The home team got off to a great start with 2 long range goals from Clodagh Daly but from then on Newport showed incredible resilience and clawed back a goal before half time. In the second half Newport started the way they finished in the first half and put pressure on the Ballymackey backs to get an equalizer and an unfortunate hand ball leading to a Newport penalty thus snatching the winner in the dying minutes. It was a tough day for the Ballymackey girls who played well but couldn’t deal with the pressure from the Newport girls in the end. Player of the game today for Ballymackey was no doubt Ali O Kelly.
