U11 Girls V Bt Harps
Our U11 girls were away this morning against Bt Harps in Templemore. With high winds blowing down the pitch it was always going to be a tough day! We played with the wind in the first half so it meant we could attack a fair bit. Those attacks were hard to control however with the wind causing havoc. Bt were pretty dangerous even against the wind and our defence of Anna Gleeson, Katie Hartnett, Carly Kenneally were busy as too was Lily Murphy in goals. Molly O'Brien and Caoimhe Manley were busy in the centre of midfield trying to get through the bt lines. Our 2 Katie Ryan's battled great all day and Sadhbh Kennedy and Saoirse Haverty also contributing loads. There were no goals at half time so we were up against it in the second period.
Some of our girls actually played better into the wind than with it and Bronagh Hogan was one of these girls who carried the ball well into the bt half causing loads of problems for them! Her sister Niamh was also busy this morning getting stuck in!
We got only one clear chance in the second half and it was our goal machine Callie Mitchell who was in the right place to fire the ball to the net after receiving a great pass from Bronagh.
Our defence held firm for the rest of the game and Lily made a super last minute save as we held out to win 1-0!
Well done to the girls!
Thanks to Bt Harps for a great game in tough conditions.
The dog played absolutely no part in today's game!!!
