Ballymackey under 12 girls welcomed broadford from county limerick to ballymackey today in the quarter finals of the south west regional cup. This is a competition for the 6 teams from the south west region that reached the last 32 of the national cup. Ballymackey played with the strong breeze in the first half and created numerous chances but could not find the net. Into the second half and it was a more even game but ballymackey still created chances With one Olivia Looby strike producing a fine save by the goalie. With the game drifting towards extra time and only seven minutes left the ball broke to Olivia Fitzpatrick in the box and she finished to the net, broadford pushed for an equalizer but could not breach the ballymackey rearguard. Both teams played some lovely football in very difficult windy conditions. ballymackey now play divisional rivals Lough Derg away in the semi finals.
