Ballymackey Womens great start to the season continued with a 2-0 win at home to Killeigh Rovers. Alanna Morris opened the scoring on 15 minutes finishing at the back post after a great run and cross from debutant Michelle Barry down the right set her up. Ballymackey took a 2 goal lead to the to the half time break, a lovely interchange between Rachel Sheehan and Ellie Troy saw the ball squared to Hazel Cawley from the left, Hazel open out onto her right side and smashed home a cracking shot from just outside the box over the Keepers head. A good Killeigh side were always in the match keeping the Ballymackey defence on their toes throughout the match, but Ballymackey worked really hard to keep the visitors at arms length, though it took a super double save from stand in Goalkeeper Niamh O Brien late in the match to maintain a clean sheet. We had super performances from our 3 youngest players, Nicola Zarina, Chloe White and Laura Kinsella who are settling in very well into the Senior squad and our player of the match was Niamh O Brien who had to step into a unfamiliar role in goals and played with huge assurance throughout.
