Ballymackey Women had a good home win in the Combined Counties Women's League against Killeigh Rovers. Ballymackey took the lead when Rachel Sheehan powered home Kate Cavanagh's excellent corner delivery. Ballymackey were having the majority of possession and creating good chances but found the Killeigh netminder in great form, she saved 3 times from Allison McDonnell who was getting in behind the away defence and also produced a super full length save from a great Kate Cavanagh effort from a free. Despite having a limited amount of possession a young Killeigh side were a threat going forward and equalised with a will finished shot. After a bit of quality play in midfield the ball was played into Joanne O Brien and she gave the keeper no chance with a great strike from just inside the box to give Ballymackey the lead again with half time just minutes away. Ballymackey unloaded the bench at half time making 4 substitutions and another good half of football followed with Darra Bourke getting the vital 3rd goal at the midpoint of the half after good work by Lisa Toohey and Nicola Zarina. Ballymackey were made work all the way to the final whistle by Killeigh but they saw the game out for a vital 3 points. Ballymackey played some fine football as the continue to get back up to the high level of performance they displayed before the Christmas break and they can be well pleased with their efforts. A good squad performance with all players contributing well and there were stand out displays from Lisa Toohey, Rachel Sheehan, Chloe McAuliffe and our player of the match Niamh O Brien
